Thread Stories
Thread Stories
Endless Solo Journaling Role Playing Gaming
A text only Open Journaling RPG, built around an oracle mechanism that evaluates boolean actions and adds tiny snippets in order to ignite your imagination. The rules are simple : You start with a world and a set of characters and narrate your way through to the end of your mission. Write everything in the first person format to narrate your actions. For every action, you will get an 'evaluation' as a snippet that you can interpret to 'Add a thread' to your story. Your threads are limited only by your imagination.
You are also advised to get yourself an online map to track your movement and get visual clues from the real world. Start with a starting point and mark an end point. Everything in between will be revealed by your threads.
Let's see the interface. First thing that you get is :
By pressing "Start" you get your first snippet (meaning text that you can use to form the who, when, what and the mission of your story). Place your text in the textbox :
Next click on "Add thread to story" to append your text to the story. The next screen show the "What's next..." prompt where you will describe your action.
And finaly after clicking the "Evaluate action" option you get a random responce. This responce may give you extra ideas in order to extend your action. Of course anything you add on the textbox will be appended to your story.
From now on, the interface will cycle between "What's next..." and "Build thread" and everything you write on the textbox will be added to your story.
